A Prelude into My New Favorite Picture.

Dalan and Pepper on their way to gather the Heifers and hopefully their babies too. Me waiting in a spot to meet up with them on their way back.

Dalan giving his horse and Pepper water after all their hard work.

And my new favorite.

Can you tell that we really have fallen in love with this dog?

Yes. Even more "Wild Life in Nebraska" Pictures.

I can't help it. They just keep coming to me. For example. Yesterday, I was walking along and saw these tracks. I was trying to decide what they were when . . .

A white tailed deer came around the corner. Luckily I have been trained by the best and I already had my camera on and in position.

Then I was able to continue on my way to take a picture of this poor baby skunk.

Dalan may have saved the turtle from the cattle gaurd, but he did not want to do the same for this stinky little skunk. I, however think it is really cute plus I would rather save it then let it starve to death down there. So that is my project for today. I will update you as soon as the rescue is complete.

Moving the Solar

This is what Dalan was doing while I was finding turtles and taking pictures. He needed to move this Solar over to a new pasture and get some water pumping for the cows that would soon be coming.

More Turtles

Can you find the little Box Turtle?

I found this one in one of the water tanks that we were about to fill up.

He was kinda feisty, so I let Dalan hold him for our photo shoot.

And when I let him go he went a runnin'.

So I followed him for a while, til I could tell he was thoroughly annoyed with me.

Then I went back to help Dalan work . . . writing this I realize that I'm sometimes not much help. Easily distracted, easily entertained. Dalan is so nice to keep bringing me along :)
(Mandi bring your family and come visit me!! We have turtles and frogs and all sorts of fun things!)

Dalan to the Rescue

Today Dalan rescued a turtle from underneath the cattle guard (or auto gate as they call them in Nebraska).

He is a Painted Turtle and was very grateful I am sure.

Then Dalan let him go wild and free.

And he was off to find a new home and we were back to work.

Denver.

Tuesday afternoon my neighbors Sara and Ruby came and picked me up and we drove off to Denver. Five hours later we saw many many people and lots and lots of cars.

The whole reason for the trip was to go to the Denver Temple.
It was beautiful. Beautiful temple. Beautiful day. Beautiful spring flowers and smells. It felt so good to go and so good to get back home to hugs and kisses from my husband :)

Workin' Hard

I realized I haven't shared any pictures of Dalan in a while. So here are some good ones of him on the job :)

Here is Dalan and Pepper moving the Heifers.

Dalan giving a newborn some Colostrum.

And tagging another calf.

All of the calves are on the ground now, so lately he has been moving them from pasture to pasture. Things are going well!

Our Vacation to Carhenge

This is Stonehenge. The one said to be built loooong loooong ago.
Not to be confused with Carhenge.

And . . . Welcome to Carhenge! An interesting model of Stonehenge and only 3 miles out of Alliance. Also our destination on a Sunday drive not to long ago.

Here we are. Happy to be going to church and getting a break from the Heifers Wives. Just enjoying Carhenge. Which, by the way, if you think it seems weird in the pictures, being there in person is worse. We just stood there silently for a moment and then laughed. It is exactly what it says and what it looks like. Nothing else.

My Little Babies

Sorry it has been so long in between blogging, our internet has not allowed it and neither have the busy Heifers. Since the last time I have blogged I have acquired some babies. This is Gus and Lori, inspired by our evening routine lately of watching Lonesome Dove. They are just the cutest. Lori now has a Heifer mom, who has been truly fooled into thinking she is her own. And I have accepted the fact that she needs a mama who moos and eats grass :)
